For our "God is a consuming fire." Hebrews 12:29
For the LORD your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God. Deuteronomy 4:24
This is the sunset i saw tonight. It's stunning with it's bright colors, the sad thing is the colors come from the wild fires we are experiencing here in Southern California. Makes you wonder how can something so beautiful come from something so destructive?
Then these verses came to my mind. How God is a all consuming fire, yet He is the most stunning thing in all the world. And then i read a article about how sometimes our hillsides need to burn in order to purify the ground and bring about new growth. And although it's destructive, it's a good thing. Now don't get me wrong, it's not ok for people's houses to burn down, that's horrible and sad. I'm just saying that fires only purpose isn't just destruction but purification.
Isn't that how God makes us grow? It seems that we have to walk through the fire to become the person God meant us to be. That we have to go through rough times or difficult situations to see what God's purpose for our lives is. I am feeling like i can look back at the past year and see that God had me walk through the fire for a purpose and that i am on the other side, stronger in my faith and closer to Him. I also see where God wants me to be. Although being tested and walking through the fire is hard, upsetting and a struggle. You end up on the other side the person who God meant you to be. Praise the Lord for His lessons and His plans.
Today I am reminded of one of my favorite sayings, "I would rather walk with God in the dark than go alone in the light. " Mary Gardiner Brainard. Spend some time talking to God today and praise Him for the fires you have had to walk through.
Tonight Daniel celebrated 8 years together by going to the House of Blues to have dinner and see my favorite band Third Day. We got there early so we could take our time eating dinner. However neither of us were impressed with the food. It was ok, but we both expected more. The best part of eating at the restaurant was, that you get to get into the show 10 minutes before everyone else. So that was awesome, because at the House of Blues it's standing room only and first come first serve. So we were right next to the stag! The warm up band was Revive they are from Australia, I really enjoyed them. I was bummed they only played 4 songs, so keep your eye out for their up coming CD. Both Daniel and I were really impressed with the opening band The Myraid, they rocked it out like they were the hide liners. The just recently won MTV's "The Next Big Thing". I thought it was so cool that a Christian band won! I am looking forward to buying their CD.
The best part of the night hands down was the amazing show that Third Day put on. They played new songs that aren't even out yet and also some of their oldie but goodies! Even though I was sick, i jumped up and down and sang every song. It was spectacular! I have only seen Third Day live once before and they really know how to put on a show. They are one of the few bands who sound as good live as they do on their CDs. They were amazing and I just can't say enough about them. It was a wonderful night spent praising the Lord with about 200 other people! So if they come to a city near you, you NEED to get tickets and check them out. It is so worth it! Sorry that the pictures aren't that good. We weren't aloud to bring cameras in, so Daniel too these with his cell phone. But hey it's something.
