Today while walking 3rd Street here in Santa Monica i was amazed at the number of taxi cabs. Never in all my life living near Los Angeles have i seen more the one taxi cab at a time. The streets were full of them here. I got this shot while crossing the street. I like the angle and the repetition of taxi's. I also enjoy the fact that if you didn't know this was in LA you would think this was taken in New York City. It's also one of the few photo of the day's that is in color. I am partial to black and white and shoot most of my artistic stuff in BW. But i like this in color, shows off the cabs as they should be.
A daughter may outgrow your lap, but she will never outgrow your heart. ~Author Unknown
Love you both so much!
As the sun set behind tall ever green trees Margo and Alex commited themselves to each other in front of their friends, family and their God. The ceremony was beautiful. The pastor who married them had them make commitments to the Lord first: to love Him above all others, to honor Him and to glorify Him in their lives. It was so touching and God honoring to see this couple put Jesus Christ as the head of their lives and their marriage. I had never been to a wedding where the couple made vows to God before they made their vows to each other. Amazing!
After the wedding we enjoyed a fun reception with great food, great people and great music. It was a very new feeling just to attend a wedding. Being a photographer and the fact that i used to be a florist for weddings, means there are very few weddings that i get to just be a guest. I loved getting to sit next to my husband and hold his hand as we watched another couple get married. I know we were both remembering our wedding day and all the emotions that we had that day. I loved getting to enjoy all the little moments, and not be running around like a chicken with my head cut off. However I was glad i brought my camera and was able to capture a few of the details for Margo. I am hoping to make her a little memory book of these photo's so she can have them soon. I know it takes a while to get your wedding photo's, so this way she has some to show people.
Thank you Margo for letting us be a part of your very special day! I hope and pray that the Lord blesses you and Alex with a long and loving marriage spent honoring your Savior!
I also got to photograph all the kids! Which was fun, poor things, it was so hot outside and they did a great job keeping their spirits up. Although the kids were fun. I LOVED photographing Veronique and her sisters. They were so happy to be together and you could see how much they loved and missed each other. I have three sisters myself and we all live close, i just don't know what it would be like to be far away from them. I am glad and praise God for giving Veronique and her sisters this gift of time together.
It turned out to be a great day spent with my best friend and getting to take pictures. I need to book some more photo shoots, because i have missed working.
For our "God is a consuming fire." Hebrews 12:29
For the LORD your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God. Deuteronomy 4:24
This is the sunset i saw tonight. It's stunning with it's bright colors, the sad thing is the colors come from the wild fires we are experiencing here in Southern California. Makes you wonder how can something so beautiful come from something so destructive?
Then these verses came to my mind. How God is a all consuming fire, yet He is the most stunning thing in all the world. And then i read a article about how sometimes our hillsides need to burn in order to purify the ground and bring about new growth. And although it's destructive, it's a good thing. Now don't get me wrong, it's not ok for people's houses to burn down, that's horrible and sad. I'm just saying that fires only purpose isn't just destruction but purification.
Isn't that how God makes us grow? It seems that we have to walk through the fire to become the person God meant us to be. That we have to go through rough times or difficult situations to see what God's purpose for our lives is. I am feeling like i can look back at the past year and see that God had me walk through the fire for a purpose and that i am on the other side, stronger in my faith and closer to Him. I also see where God wants me to be. Although being tested and walking through the fire is hard, upsetting and a struggle. You end up on the other side the person who God meant you to be. Praise the Lord for His lessons and His plans.
Today I am reminded of one of my favorite sayings, "I would rather walk with God in the dark than go alone in the light. " Mary Gardiner Brainard. Spend some time talking to God today and praise Him for the fires you have had to walk through.
This is a photo of my daughter living up to her middle name. When Daniel and I were deciding on names for our first born daughter, i just loved the name joy. Even when she was still inside my womb she brought so much joy to us. I was so excited to be having a baby, and praised God each time i heard her heart beat or felt her move inside me. And now for almost three years she has made the joy in our lives over flow. I praise the Lord for the gift of my beautiful girl, and can't imagine my life with out her in it. She is such a happy girl, so sweet and helpful. She has never been difficult or troublesome, she continues and will always be our joy.
Don't you wish you laughed and smiled like that. I love this photo because it captures true joy right in the moment. We should all strive each day to have that same kind of joy, even in the little things.
I love you Sienna Joy, you are such a special girl and I thank God for you everyday!
Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. Psalm 51:7
I love flowers. My mom always had a beautiful flower garden when i was growing up and now i have a love for any kind of flower. Today while at the mall this white rose stood out to me. I loved that it wasn't perfect, kind of like all of us humans. I think the exposed center of the rose gives it interest. It also reminded me of something my little sister would paint. All together it just called out to me to take a picture of it. And in the end i really enjoyed how it turned out. It just goes to show you that it's in the most unexpected places that you find beauty. NEver thought while waiting in line for a kids train ride i would find a stunning flower to photograph.
Well tonight while drawing with chalk on our patio with Sienna i was able to take this sweet photo. I love children's feet and i thought it was so cute how she had chalk all over them. Such a fun photo of my sweet girls feet, well i think they are cute feet. It's been a while since i posted a photo of the day. However now that I have more time of my own, i will be sure to capture some more moments and post them here for you.
I love being in the mountains. It's just awe inspiring. I was so thankful that i had a little free time and was able to get some good photo's taken while up in such a beautiful place. I love being able to capture the little things when i am on a trip. It really helps me to remember the time spent there.
At one point during camp i got to spend about two hours alone, just me, God and my camera. I spent a lot of time praying and thinking. It was one of the most memorable moments of the week. The Lord truly gave me peace about my life and what He has planned for me. He touched my heart and healed much of the brokenness i have been experiencing. It was truly an encounter with my creator in the mist of His mighty creation. It is amazing what God can do with just a small amount of time. I hadn't planned to be alone sitting in the middle of no where, it just happened. God knew what He was doing and put me exactly where He wanted me to be. I left my little quite time with the Lord, refreshed, renewed and ready for what lie ahead of me when i got home from camp. It was exactly what my heart needed. I am so thankful for that complete alone time with my Savior.
“Come with Me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.” Mark 6:31
The wedding started at six o'clock. My wonderful husband look more than handsome all dressed up in his suit standing with his brother. He still takes my breath away just as he did almost seven years ago on our wedding day. Sienna and I walked down the isle together, which wasn't the plan. But it all worked out. She did great by herself yesterday, but today with all the people she needed me with her. It was fine and I am so proud of my big girl, she did her job and made it all the way to daddy. The ceremony was sweet and Matt and Sarah looked so happy.
After pictures and a lot of standing outside, we headed into the reception. The food was yummy and I enjoyed getting to sit with Daniel's parents, and grandparents. Sienna loved dancing and getting to play with her Aunt Cameo. It seemed like the whole day flew by in a flash. I was able to get a few photo's but not nearly as many as I had hoped. Sarah and Matt's wedding was lovely and I hope and pray that they enjoy a life time together.
