We spent a quite Christmas at home. We slept in and even got to wake Sienna up. She was so excited about opening presents. The joy was contagious and made for a magical morning for all of us. We were overjoyed to have Eli here as well. If you read my blog you know that he was due Christmas day and we had hoped and prayed that he would be here early so we could enjoy him on Christmas day.
After a lovely morning spent as a family, my mom and Daniel's parents came over. We all cooked and ate and praised the Lord for the gift of His son. We had so much food, you would have thought we were cooking for twelve people not six. Rissa made ham, rolls, and a apple pie. I made appetizers, mashed potatoes and roasted veggies. And my mom made her famous baked mac and cheese. Which by the way is my most favorite thing to eat! We spent the rest of the evening opening presents and playing games. It was nice to not have to go any where or stress out about Christmas. Thank you to both of our parents for understanding that we wanted to stay home, and for, making Christmas special for Sienna! I love my family and today was just what i wanted.
Today i got to be a part of a very special day in the life of Coby and Eliza. Coby, Daniel's cousin, asked me a week ago if i would do portraits for him and his girl friend with his three daughters and Eliza's two daughters, that's right five children. The surprise Coby wanted to propose to Eliza in the middle of the shoot! How awesome is that, and i would be there to capture the very amazing moment. As soon as he asked me i said yes. I have never gotten to be a part of something like this, and what a neat opportunity for me to do something a little different then my normal photo shoot.
It was a challenge to photograph so many children, but it all worked out great and i think they ended up with some lovely photos and a great memory. Thank you Coby for letting me be a part of your plans, Eliza was so surprised and it was so romantic. I may have to steal the idea, for other clients. :)
This afternoon we headed over to Daniel's parents house to celebrate Thanksgiving. We fit eighteen people in the house and enjoyed a wonderful day of food, family, games and laughter. Rissa (Daniel's mom) out did herself with the food, she made one of the juiciest turkeys i've ever had, along with her famous rolls and tons of sides. Everyone pitched in by bringing a side dish or dessert. I made green bean casserole from scratch, it turned out good, but i think i need to work on the recipe some more. Maybe it will be blog worthy at Christmas time.
After eating ourselves into a food coma, we played cards all evening. It was a wonderfully relaxing Thanksgiving with family. I hope you had a great day as well.
Last night after an amazing message from Pastor Dan on temptation, we broke up into our small groups as usual. I have an amazing co-leader Laurie and a great group of about ten girls. We had a deep discussion on temptation and what it means to be pure. I was surprise when i saw Dan telling me to wrap it up. We almost always go over, but it's never a problem. So we finished the discussion and headed back to the youth room. Which was dark and quite, not normal at all. I open the door and hear 50+ teens and volunteers scream "Surprise!". I was shocked, i couldn't believe that the whole youth room was decorated and set up to be a Baby Shower! Gifts, cupcakes, balloons, drinks and games all to welcome Daniel and I into the Canvas Family. I tried not to cry or pee in my pants, i really needed to use the bathroom. hehe :)
I was overwhelmed by the love that this church showed to us. I just couldn't wrap my mind around the whole thing. We have been volunteering for a little over three months there, and love it. However i just couldn't believe they would go to so much trouble to make me feel loved. It was so sweet. The pastors and staff here at Discovery work so hard to make sure everyone feels loved and appreciated, which many churches forget to do. It is my hope and prayer to be able to show them all my deepest gratitude and repay them in love for their love.
Love you all!
Today our family celebrated my nephew Josh's 2nd Birthday. My sister Cristal and her husband just moved into a new, bigger house and it was fun getting to have a big party to break it in. One of the great perks of their new home, is a BIG back yard. We all enjoyed sitting out in the beautiful day and the kids loved playing in the bouncer. It is a great place to have party's and if you knew my sister, they love to throw party's.
I got to decorate Josh's birthday cake, which was so much fun. I made his cake last year and now it's turning into a family tradition. I have also made cakes for my nieces as well. It's super fun to do something special for each of them and give them a cake that no one else is going to have. Joshy loves the movie "Cars" so his whole party was based on the movie, even the cake. Cristal found the prefect size cars for the top of the cake, I just needed to make it look like a race track, pretty easy compared to the Mickey Mouse cake i made last year. Well he loved it and so did everyone else.
Happy Birthday Joshy, I love you so much!

Love you both so much!
"I have found the one my heart loves." Songs of Solomon 3:4
I met Daniel when i was six years old, I would have never thought he was going to be the man God created for me. Seven years ago on September 21 2002 at 12:30pm I married the man of my dreams. The one my heart loves!
I am blessed to call him my best friend, lover, and husband. Seven years ago we stood before our family, and our friends and promised our lives to each other. That was one of the most wonderful moments of my life. Although so much has changed in seven years one thing still remains the same, Christ is the center of our marriage and with that we have a strong foundation and have been able to rejoice together in the good time and strengthen our relationship in the hard times. I have had the honor to serve along side him in ministry and raise our daughter together. My life is what it is because of this wonderful man.
Happy Anniversary my love! Thank you for seven years of love! I can't wait to see what's in store for us this year and for many many years to come. I love you!
"For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb." Psalm 139:13
Oh how i love my daughter! Once Daniel and I were married, i longed to have children. And in January 2006 we found out I was pregnant. Everything was so special, hearing her heart beat for the first time, finding out she was a girl, and feeling her move inside me. We rejoiced and praised the Lord, when exactly four years to the day of our wedding day Sienna Joy Milner was born. I could never explain the amount of love that filled my heart for this beautiful child. I never thought i could love someone so much. She was also the product of Daniel's and I's love for each other, and just looking at her would make me fall even more in love with my husband. And today she is three. That almost takes my breath away, my baby is three and not a baby anymore.
I remember the day she was born like it yesterday, and it is so hard for me to grasp that that was three years ago. However at the same time she is such a big girl, it's hard to think she was ever being a baby. She is my little helper and has had a lot of changes in her life just in the past few months. Just this summer a lone she has moved out of her crib into a twin size big girl bed, is now completely potty trained and has her own chores around the house. What a big girl! I praise the Lord for the gift of my Sienna Joy and can't even imagine my life with out her in it. Her loving heart and kind spirit is a gift.
Thank you Lord for another year with my beautiful girl, i can't wait to see the plans you have for her over the next year and the rest of her life. I hope and pray that we will raise her to know and love you and live her life to honor and glorify your name. I could never thank you enough for giving her to me.
Sienna is so loved by so many people. And we had the blessing of having families members from around the country send her little birthday gifts. It was so thoughtful and sweet that they would take the time to shop and send special gifts for Sienna. Thank you so much Uncle Jerry, Cinda, Bob, Meritha, and Joe! Sienna loved getting the boxes and getting the treats inside! You are all so special to us, thank you again for thinking of Sienna on her 3rd birthday.
