This year we decided to not do the traditional trick or treating thing with Sienna. She struggles with nightmares and night terrors and we wanted to make sure we did something that didn't scare her. So we went to a church harvest festival in Fillmore. My brother in law and sister in law attend the church and were working a game booth there. So we met up with Daniel's parents and had a lgreat, scare free night. Sienna loved playing all the games and getting tons of candy. It was nice being able to just watch her have fun and not worry about what the next house will bring or what scary teenager might jump out of the bushes. We just played games and ate candy. Even though it was a little bit of a drive, it was so worth it, we all had fun and it made for one of the best Halloweens ever.
Shhhhh.... now that Sienna is in bed, Daniel and I get to eat some of her candy. Love being parents :)! Happy Halloween Everyone!
It has been a tradition for many years that i help my nieces get ready for Halloween. I love dressing up and doing hair and make-up so it's a great excuses to have the girls over and play! This year Kaitlin was Lucille Ball and Sarah was a Candy Corn Person. We had fun with colored hair spray and make up. Sienna loved having her big cousins over and being apart of all the dress up fun. Sienna was a beautiful pink Ballerina and i curled her hair as well. Sienna also loved getting to have a little bit of make up on, all three girls had a ball getting ready for a fun evening of trick or treating. Before evening fell i had three very pretty and dressed up girls all ready for some Halloween fun.
This is the first time i've ever carved pumpkins on Halloween. We have just been so busy this past week, there was never time. But with Halloween being on a Saturday it was something fun today in the afternoon before trick or treating. Daniel and i really enjoy the art of carving pumpkins and get really into making new and differnt designs each year, you will rarely see a regular old jack o lantern at our house. This year we each carved one pumpkin and then we did one together.
We had a great time eating monkey much and carving up some pumpkins. I hope you had a great Halloween afternoon!
Sienna picking a Ballerina worked out great because we already had a lot of the pieces in her dress up clothes. However i decided to dazzle them up so they were special for her. What you will need to make this costume:
Ballerina Costume:
Leotard
Tutu
Tights
Slippers
ribbon that matches slippers
rhinestones
Fabric Glue
Scissors
thread that matches slippers and Leotard
pins
and sewing nettles
I glues rhinestones all over the tutu and on the neck and cuffs of the leotard. I hand sewed ribbon to the slippers and glued more rhinestones to them as well. It took me about two hours to finish and Sienna loves it. She just couldn't wait to put it on. The only thing left for me to do is sew the tutu onto the leotard, the tutu is a little too big on Sienna and keeps slipping off. So i just need to add a few stitches to secure it in place. So if you have a little girl who wants to be a pretty ballerina, you may be surprised how much stuff you already have. I only had to by the rhinestones, glue and slippers. I had everything else! Easy and cheap. Hope you have fun putting your special touches on your childrens Halloween costumes!
I've always enjoyed Halloween, it's one of the only holiday's you don't have to buy gifts for people or have to travel to visit family. I love getting dresses up and being like a kid again. This Halloween I dressed up like Lucille Ball , I have loved Lucy since I was a little girl and have never dressed up like her. I bought a costume a few years ago and for some reason never wore it. So tonight was the night and it was fun, i loved doing my make up, however it was a rather warm day so i didn't wear the red wig, it was just too hot. But I still think i looked like her. Daniel was a "dad", super original, good job Daniel! And Sienna was a Syracuse Cheerleader, my family from New York sent her this cute cheerleader uniform and I thought it would be perfect for Halloween. Sienna looked so cute and we super excited about getting candy
After getting all dressed up we went over to my sister Dawn's house. Dawn and I made pizzas for everyone and then we were off trick or treating. It was a family affair with my sister Dawn and her family, my mom, my sister Cristal and her family and Daniel, Sienna and I. Which made for a large group of eleven! It was fun watching all the kids go door to door. After getting all the candy they could carry we went back to Dawn's and made doughnuts. My mom used to make homemade doughnuts when we were little and I thought it would be fun to make them for my daughter and nieces. We all enjoyed the doughnuts and ate some candy. It was a fun Halloween spent with family. Hope you had a fun and safe Halloween!
After everyone had left from our little pumpkin party, Daniel and started work on our pumpkins. We really get into it and try to do different and harder things each year. This year i went out and bought a wood carving kit, which had some great tools to make carving a little easier. This year Daniel worked really hard on a three dimensional face and I worked on doing some intricate design work on my pumpkin. We also both carved traditional Jack O Lanterns. I so
enjoyed doing something a little different this year and learning that i can do some of the harder stuff. We have four really cool pumpkins that we are proud of. Too bad we won't get any trick or treater's where we live. We are thinking about taking over to my sisters house on Halloween so people can appreciate them hehe!So I want to encouarge all of you to get out there and look online and print some stencils and by some carving tools. Because it fun and not as hard as you would think. Plus you end up with some pretty awesome pumpkins.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
Last night we had my sister Dawn and her family over to carve pumpkins. Daniel and I love carving pumpkins and have a great time doing it. So we thought my nieces Kaitlin and Sarah would enjoy carving pumpkins with us. So we got a bunch of pumpkins and Sienna and I made a big batch of rice crispy treats. It was fun having them over, the girls got really into drawing on their pumpkins and then carving them. However Dawn did end up carving most of Kaitlin's out, but Sarah did a great job and stuck with it.
Sienna loved having the girls over they got to play together and Sienna got to paint a pumpkin while the big girls got to carve theirs. She was so happy to be a part of what everyone was doing. I hope that we can make this a family tradition, having people come over and carve pumpkins. It just made the time more fun and more special. So get out there and buy your pumpkins and get carving, because Halloween is tomorrow!
Tonight we all got dressed up and headed over to my nieces elementary school. They were having a Halloween Carnival. I was able to get some pictures of Sienna in her Halloween costume early, she is going to be a Syracuse Cheerleader for Halloween. My cousin Cinda sent her the uniform for her birthday, and I thought it would be perfect for Halloween. I have lots of family in Syracuse, New York, so I know that they will love seeing Sienna having Syracuse pride. She looked too cute! I was a cat, which Sienna thought was the funniest thing. She insisted on me drawing on her face because I had drawn whiskers on mine. So I wrote "Go Team" on her cheeks. I always like playing dress up and this was a great excuse to have fun!
My sister Dawn and her husband were running one of the game booths, so we had to make sure we played there. Daniel and my niece won tons of stuff for Sienna, the games were a little too hard for her. However Sienna had tons of fun trying to playing the games and playing with her cousins. I enjoyed spending time with my sister Cristal and her family too! Plus my mom was able to come, it was one big family outing. By the end of the night Sienna had a big bag full of candy and prizes. It was a great fun, plus we got to support my nieces school.
