This year we decided to not do the traditional trick or treating thing with Sienna. She struggles with nightmares and night terrors and we wanted to make sure we did something that didn't scare her. So we went to a church harvest festival in Fillmore. My brother in law and sister in law attend the church and were working a game booth there. So we met up with Daniel's parents and had a lgreat, scare free night. Sienna loved playing all the games and getting tons of candy. It was nice being able to just watch her have fun and not worry about what the next house will bring or what scary teenager might jump out of the bushes. We just played games and ate candy. Even though it was a little bit of a drive, it was so worth it, we all had fun and it made for one of the best Halloweens ever.
Shhhhh.... now that Sienna is in bed, Daniel and I get to eat some of her candy. Love being parents :)! Happy Halloween Everyone!
It has been a tradition for many years that i help my nieces get ready for Halloween. I love dressing up and doing hair and make-up so it's a great excuses to have the girls over and play! This year Kaitlin was Lucille Ball and Sarah was a Candy Corn Person. We had fun with colored hair spray and make up. Sienna loved having her big cousins over and being apart of all the dress up fun. Sienna was a beautiful pink Ballerina and i curled her hair as well. Sienna also loved getting to have a little bit of make up on, all three girls had a ball getting ready for a fun evening of trick or treating. Before evening fell i had three very pretty and dressed up girls all ready for some Halloween fun.
This is the first time i've ever carved pumpkins on Halloween. We have just been so busy this past week, there was never time. But with Halloween being on a Saturday it was something fun today in the afternoon before trick or treating. Daniel and i really enjoy the art of carving pumpkins and get really into making new and differnt designs each year, you will rarely see a regular old jack o lantern at our house. This year we each carved one pumpkin and then we did one together.
We had a great time eating monkey much and carving up some pumpkins. I hope you had a great Halloween afternoon!

In the sport of boxing, the main event is the big fight, the moment where everything is on the line. But for most of us, we are oblivious to the truth that in every temptation we face, there’s a lot at stake as well. When face to face with temptation, the choice feels insignificant sometimes. There are times when it feels like no one will notice, or it’s not really a big deal. But in looking at the temptations Jesus faced, we realize just how much is at stake—not only in His life, with the temptations that were before Him—but in our lives as well, with the ones we face every day.
Bottom Line: In every single temptation you face, there is always more at risk than you think.
Tonight was awesome as usual and we had a huge group of kids. Its awesome to see teens bringing friends and our group growing. The Lord is mighty and He is doing great things!
Today i got to join our Youth Pastor and some other Canvas leaders in having lunch at Simi High School. Pastor Dan has started this awesome thing, every Wednesday he brings Taco's to a different high school in our area, and then just hangs out with the youth group kids and their friends. The teens love it and look forward to the week he shows up at their school. Well today i got to go, i can't always get a babysitter so i can't go every week. But i was so excited to go today. I had so much fun just spending time with them. I can't wait until i can do it again. Thanks Dan for putting it all together and just being awesome and loving teens!
Today is my birthday! I got to get all dressed up to go out to dinner with my wonderful husband. I have been looking forward to some alone time with Daniel and getting to go out and celebrate was a lovely excuse. We enjoyed a fabulous dinner at Rustico. A great Italian restaurant in Augura. We had great food and I so enjoyed getting to talk to Daniel alone, just that alone would have been a wonderful gift. It was so lovely to get out and be alone with Daniel, i know once Eli comes we won't get to do this for awhile, so i savored ever moment. It was just what i wanted.
Once home, my mom and little sister had some cupcakes with us and we opened presents. It was a fun way to end my Birthday evening.
Today while walking 3rd Street here in Santa Monica i was amazed at the number of taxi cabs. Never in all my life living near Los Angeles have i seen more the one taxi cab at a time. The streets were full of them here. I got this shot while crossing the street. I like the angle and the repetition of taxi's. I also enjoy the fact that if you didn't know this was in LA you would think this was taken in New York City. It's also one of the few photo of the day's that is in color. I am partial to black and white and shoot most of my artistic stuff in BW. But i like this in color, shows off the cabs as they should be.
Today Gary and Lora drove all the way from Idyllwild to spend the day with us to celebrate my birthday. I felt so loved and special that they would drive three hours just to be with us today! We met up at the Skriball Cultural Center to have lunch and play in their Noah's Ark exhibit.
Sienna had an amazing time play, climbing and discovering everything on the Ark. I love that kids can touch and play with everything. We spent hours just exploring all the fun stuff you can do in the Ark. From making lighting to helping clean up after the animals. I think Sienna's favorite thing to do there was play with all the animal puppets. She just loved the whole thing. After playing all afternoon in the Ark, Sienna got to be a archeologist, and dig for pottery. She loved playing in the sand and finding treasure. It was a fun way to end our time at the museum.
Tonight the whole Milner clan went to Santa Monica Pier to celebrate Rissa's and I's Birthday's. I am blessed to share my birthday with my mother in law. So it was wonderful getting to celebrate together. We enjoyed a delicious dinner on the Pier and enjoyed watching the ocean while we ate. After dinner we walked the Pier and enjoyed spending time together as a family. Happy Birthday Mom! I hope you had a great evening.
