I love Children's Books
Today Sienna and I went to a story time at our local Borders book store. One of my most favorite places to go. Sienna so loved listening to all the stories and I was so proud of how well she sat and listened through 5 books. She did awesome!! After every book she would say very loudly "another one". The lady who was telling the stories laughed every time. Sienna was the youngest there by far, and did the best at being still and being quiet. She was a little sad when story time was over, so we grab a few books and read them in a corner. We could have stayed there all day. It is amazing to see Sienna loving books as much as I do.
I think it is so important to surround yourself and you children with the written word. My most favorite memory as a child was cuddling up with my mom and sisters to listen to my mother read. It was the most magical time of my childhood. I still love to listen to my mom read, she just has the best voice for reading stories. She read us all the Little House books, Little Women, Where the Red Fern Grows and more. I want Sienna and I have to those same kind of memories. We try to read a book everyday. And i think it is so important to have your children see you reading books as well. It is because of my mom that I have such a love for books, i love borrowing books from her now, and watching her read books to my daughter.I also hope to some day write children's books with my little sister, everyone needs a dream.
When I was a preschool teacher i was exposed to some of the most wonderful children's books. The school I taught at had the best library of books. It was wonderful being able to go in there and find hundreds of lovely children's book to read to my students. Now that I have my own child I am trying to build up my own library for her. So I thought you might like to know some of my most favorite story time children's books.
