Happy Resurrection Sunday!
Matthew 28:1-10
After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary
Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb. There was a
violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and,
going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance
was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. The guards were
so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men.
The angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples: 'He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.' Now I have told you."
Praise God for His son Jesus Christ. Who came to earth to live as one of us, and then die for all of us. I am not one that likes commercial holiday's. I think we should be celebrating the resurrection of our Savior everyday, because that is what living by faith is, living in the knowledge that Jesus Christ died and then rose from the dead, and now we can have victory in Jesus!
We started out our Sunday by going to our Church for an outdoor service. The weather was beautiful, maybe a little too hot to be sitting in direct sunlight for the two hour service, but it's better then rain! Our pastor Jesse Stevens, had a wonderful and inspiring sermon on the hope we have in Jesus. After the service my friend Sherry and I organized a big egg hunt for all the little ones. The kids loved it! Then everyone enjoy a yummy brunch out on the patio of the church. It was great to be with so many believers celebrating our Savior.
After a great morning at church we headed over to Daniel's grandmothers house. Where we had our Milner/Turner family dinner. Grandma is one of the best cooks, plus all the other women in the family are amazing too! I made cupcakes. Shocking I know! hehe. And then after our tummies were all full we headed out side for a big egg hunt for all the kids. The guys had way too much fun hiding all the eggs in Grandma's yard, we kind of had to help the kids find the eggs, because the guys made it a little too hard. Oh well! The kids loved it.
Last year Sienna was just a little baby and couldn't participate in any of the day's events. However this year she knew what was happening. My most favorite moment durning the day was watching Sienna dance during our worship time at church. Such pure joy in the music. Watching her reminded me of this verse: "Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it."Mark 10:15 .Sienna really loved finding eggs, however when she would find a egg she would open it and take the candy out. And be content to just sit and eat the candy. We had to keep encouraging her to find more eggs. Silly girl! She was so much fun to watch and take pictures of.
We finished our evening the way we always do at Grandma's, with a fun game of cards. I enjoy Daniel's family so much and love how close we all are. It is amazing to be part of such a wonderful family and know that they love you. Hope you had a wonderful Resurrection Sunday! Remember it's not about food, dresses, eggs, and Bunny's. It's about Praising God for His son Jesus, and remembering the death and resurrection that had to happen for you to have eternal life. Spend some time in prayer today!
